Overall Job Purpose


• The prime objective is to drive business development activity alongside the Business Development Director / Hunter through deal origination, winning quality new business to achieve BD target.


• Be a focal point for business development activity within a geographic hub both internally and external to the Bank.


• Maintain expert knowledge of local market through key introducer networks; and understanding needs and requirements of local business community.


• Maximise revenue and wallet share.


• Effective risk management of new opportunities.


• Work with industry experts to deliver specialist solutions.

Team working 20%%3C/EM>


• Develop and Coordinate the team business development activities working closely with the Business Development Director / Hunter


• Develop and maintain target lists alongside each RD and be responsible for a one to one with the RD on a monthly basis, sharing action points.


• Attend team meetings on a regular basis to maintain dialogue/sharing of information with RD's to ensure up to date knowledge of market place, sharing of business development activity/initiatives, competitors and people issues etc.


• Support, coach and develop team members business development skills - particularly in the RSM community


• Lead team by example generating opportunities through

- Cold Calling,

- Direct marketing,

- Referrals.


• Work with the Business Development Director on the successful delivery of marketing plans, including seminars and sector dinners which generate new business contacts


• Take responsibility for leading and delivering specific national or local income generation projects.



Customer/KBI Contact 60%%3C/EM>


• Provide a Professional approach to business development with quality marketing, research, events and pitches to raise the team profile, provide information.


• Identify and drive business development opportunities in terms of new customers in the £x10m to £x250mband. Working in conjunction with the Business Development Director. Minimum 5 external meetings per week


• Using Sales Playbook to follow a customer centric and professional sales process, including:-

- Meeting preparation

- Effective Call notes disseminated to group partners

- Developing deep understanding of target

- Effective pricing & due diligence

- Establishing Barclays as a strategic partner


• Prepare and alongside the RD or BDD present pitch material to key targets utilising contacts within Barclays Group to maximise wallet share


• With RD each agreement with Credit and agreement with target to move project managing the implementation of the move to Barclays with the RSM.


• Build strong relationship with KBIs within the area defined by the team leader, develop ongoing relationships with key corporate transactors, and establish a regular contact programme.


• Maintain Salesforce and own tracker of revenue generated and revenue opportunities.

• Operating in accordance with BCB risk appetite and lending procedures

• Develop high quality credit solutions which are both practical and appropriate [i.e. lending structures] for customer

• Working to continuously improve credit knowledge and experience

• Building an effective working partnership with credit colleagues

• Ensure compliance with mandatory Risk policies and procedures relating to credit conformance and regulatory (including Financial Crime), operational and legal risk.

• Quality of data within our systems is robust.

• Ensure up to date with recent and relevant regulatory requirements.


Person Specification

Skills required to undertake the role:

• Highly developed Relationship skills.

• Good Banking skills including the ability to quickly decide whether a new business opportunity is worthy of pursuit.

• Highly developed Business awareness-to include impact of general economic change on a Corporate's business.

• Strong Credit risk management expertise to apply the skills to a high level on a daily basis

• Communication & Presentation and Influencing skills.

• Industry knowledge - dynamics of market place (on a global, regional and local basis).

• In depth product knowledge to meet general and specific needs, lifecycles and seasonality for Industry/Sector for sectors which apply to the RDs the BDM primarily works with.

• Ability to network both internally and externally is seen as crucial if the jobholder is to be successful in this role. Such networking will enable the jobholder to deliver creative solutions to customers needs (particularly financing needs available to customers externally from the Bank). Networking across medium and larger business teams to ensure resource is applied correctly to business development opportunities.

Essential

• The job holder must be self motivated, with the ability to generate their own leads and develop their own external networks for the benefit of the wider team.

• A full understanding of the products and solutions available from across the organisation appropriate to the customer/industry sector is required.

• An ability to identify opportunities where working with product specialists across the group will produce a multi -product integrated solution for the customer-maximising portfolio contribution.

• Understand the macroeconomic factors affecting the team's customer base

 Jobholder will have an in depth understanding of corporate business and financial issues.

 Will typically have experience of working in a credit risk environment

 Team player - inspiring and encouraging performance excellence



Desirable


• A good understanding of Barclays product suite

• The job holder will require a good understanding of the policies and strategies across the Group as they relate to the demands of the team's customer base

• In-depth industry knowledge on the dynamics of the market place (global, regional, and local) the job holder will have a deep understanding of the supply chain, industry seasonality and value opportunities.

• Related professional qualifications.



Undertaking or having completed Credit Skills Development or ifs School of Finance examinations, or equivalent, would be an advantage as the jobholder will be expected to completed CSD within 12 months of being in the role
