Summary
Develop world class software to support the analytic needs of the most analytically sophisticated and profitable credit card company anywhere in the world: Captial One's US Card Division. Use your talents to understand the processes and advanced analytics used to acquire and manage credit card customers. How to accurately value our customers. How to make optimal decisions in the presence of numerous business, operational, and regulatory constraints. Design and deliver the software necessary to conduct these analytics in the most efficient way possible.

Basic Responsibilities
· Master the analytic processes/methods used to acquire and manage customers
· Manage the development of world class analytic software used in business decision making
· Ensure software delivered is robust, flexible, and scalable

Detailed Responsibilities
· Lead and manage a team to deliver on all stages of the software development cycle: Requirements, design, development, testing, release, support.

o Engage stakeholders to understand and anticipate future analytic needs
o Interview stakeholders/end-users to elicit software requirements
o Author high level and detailed design documents
o Determine the release schedule and functionality to be included
o Define milestones and timelines then drive the execution
o Implement software designs using the SAS language (including SAS/AF)
o Conduct code reviews and drive superior code quality
o Oversee the software testing process
o Prepare and deliver software demos for stakeholders
o Manage the software release and user training process
o Provide application support to the end user community

· When appropriate, be hands-on and deliver through individual contributions and be able to effectively manage projects
o Identify and implement regular process improvements
o Identify and mitigate project risks
o Manage the agile development cycle (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives)
o Maintain comprehensive project documentation
o Prepare and deliver regular stakeholder updates
o Collaborate across departments

Supervisory Responsibilities
· Structure tasks independently, for both self and for team
· Formulate and socialize a development agenda
· Direct management of 3-5 contractor resources
· Team leadership and influencing in a cross-functional environment
· Participate in recruiting contractor resources
· Train and mentor team members
· Monitor performance of contractor resources

Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field
· At least 3 years experience in applications development
· At least 3 years experience in managing and leading teams
· Proficient in procedural, object oriented programming languages, and experience in GUI development
· Proficient with SAS

Preferred Qualifications
· Master's degree in a quantitative field
· 2+ years experience in direct supervision of associates
· 5+ years experience in applications development
· 5+ years financial services experience, understanding of credit card economics
· 5+ years experience in SAS
· Acknowledged expertise through publication record (e.g. SAS conference publications)
· Six Sigma Certified (Green Belt or Black Belt) or other Process expertise
· Experience building and evaluating predictive models
· Experience with optimization techniques
· Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills
· Exceptional problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities
· Mixture of a conceptual and tactical thinking
· Ability to see the big picture while also being extremely detail oriented
· Ability to thrive in a results-oriented, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
