Job Purpose


  • To manage a portfolio of Customers using Factoring products. The Local Business Manager is responsible for the risk management of their portfolio within Credit Policy and their own levels of discretion

  • The Local Business Manager is responsible for the levels of service provided to the customer ensuring that we provide a level of service applicable to the product and pricing of the facility provided

  • The Local Business Manager is responsible for extending customer life and therefore maximising income, by way of their ability to meet the needs of the customer and the relationship they would have built with the customer

  • Meet Risk Management Control and Compliance requirements

  • Contribute to the Sales Financing Income target by way of maximising customer life and price. Also maximising additional income, termination fees and Collect Out fees where applicable and maximising funding (and also income) where prudent to do so)


Customer Satisfaction 30%%3C/SPAN>


  • Both in terms of the Local Business Managers portfolio and our wider customer base to put the customer first in everything we do and ensure that Barclays Sales Financing always offers the best service we can


Credit 30%%3C/SPAN>


  • Monitor and control your portfolio of customers in accordance with the BSF Credit Policy. Actioning exception reporting when required, living the breach policy and maintaining accurate, quality information

  • Within personal discretion, monitor trends and exceptions, assessing the risk attached to them and implementing actions to remedy any adverse positions eg: excesses over facilities, guided by the system and Risk Policy. Actions will require discussion and negotiation with the customer to obtain immediate resolution and demanding the jobholder's own judgement and discretion to affect this resolution

  • Liaise with, and obtain sanction from the higher sanction authority for all situations outside the Local Business Managers personal discretion

  • In the event that a customer is subject to insolvency proceedings, to manage the recoveries of outstanding funds to ensure Sales Financing position is protected and minimise provisions


  • Person Specification


    · Knowledge of the Bank's products, services and policies and/or other specialist knowledge required to undertake the role

    · It would be beneficial to the role if the jobholder has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the factoring product, sufficient to facilitate the full risk assessment of the Customer's Facility. However, this is not essential.


    Training likely to assist effectiveness in the role and may have been completed prior to undertaking this role:


    · The jobholder will need to be trained in the Risk process of Receivables Financing

    · Detailed understanding of customer produced Management and Audited financial information in order to manage the portfolio effectively

    Effectiveness in the role will include good negotiation skills, time management and prioritisation
