Job Description:

An opportunity exists within Barclays Bank Ireland PLC for an Operational Rigour Officer, reporting to the Business Manager with a dotted line to the Risk Director. The primary objectives of this role are to:


  • Ensure a high degree of operational and regulatory rigour is embedded throughout the Bank, in accordance with local regulatory and Barclays Group standards.

  • Own the Operational Risk Management process, including recording, reporting and assurance testing of risks and related controls

  • Own the Records Management and Business Continuity process.

  • Provide advice to the business regarding operational rigour

  • Analysis of performance across all departments for review by Management and Senior Management.

  • Provide assistance to Risk Team in audit preparation (both internal and external)

  • Secretary to the Operating Risk Committee / Outsourcing Committee and Audit Committee


Candidates will have:


  • Proven ability to think analytically

  • Report writing skills

  • Proven ability to influence and to drive through new processes

  • Track record in coaching to achieve good teamwork

  • Attention to detail

  • Extremely high standard of quality and rigour in all work

  • Excellent self motivation, combined with a huge appetite for learning

  • Extremely good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to present to small audience


Knowledge and Expertise required for the role:

Essential


  • Broad based knowledge of the Large Corporate operational banking environment, processes and procedures

  • Awareness of legislation affecting banking operations.

  • Demonstrate use of technology to help record, analyse and review the data available to manage risks in a business

  • Very strong self-motivation and time management skills - good combination of working independently and with a team

  • Considerable level of drive and motivation around subject matter which can be complex and demanding to understand

  • Knowledge of Business Continuity Management Requirements.



Preferred


  • Knowledge of Barclays Governance, Compliance and Group Operational Risk Framework

  • Knowledge of the larger business market products and services provided by Barclays Bank Ireland PLC
