B4 Relationship Support Manager


An opportunity has come available in Barclays Corporate Bank for a Relationship Support Manager to be based in Liverpool, within the Northern Region. You will be assisting the Relationship Director with developing and maintaining relationships with a portfolio of complex and/or large corporate customers and connected personal customers.



  • A named point of contact for customers dealing with a range of requests including any calls in Managers/Directors' absence.

  • Assist one or more Directors with product knowledge, sales research, customer relationship development, research into solutions to meet customers' needs using market and industry information and risk management for the portfolio.

  • To manage the co-ordination of evaluation and execution of large structured transactions, under the supervision of, or assisting a more senior manager. The value of these transactions will typically be between £5m and £1bn.



Main Accountabilities and approximate time split

  • Develop and maintain own contacts with individuals within customers' organisation.

  • Act as principal point of contact in Corporate Manager's absence.

  • Co-ordinate introduction to and from other areas of the Barclays Group where appropriate and monitor outcome.

  • Assist with development of, and revisions to, Customer Relationship Plan.

  • Monitor level of customer service and satisfaction based on Corporate Market Service standards.

  • Develop and maintain links with local business community and support Relationship Director in same activity, e.g. KBIs.

  • Work with Research Manager to identify potential new customers and maintain database of potential customers.

  • Arrange and undertake product presentations where appropriate, e.g. Businessmaster II. Financial Planning,

  • Develop and maintain contacts with specialists in other branch sectors and other areas of the Group.

  • Generate and monitor leads and update leads tracking system e.g. Salesforce, Customer Relationship Management System. Co-ordinate information for the Corporate Manager on overall portfolio.

  • Prepare information for and attend customer meetings

  • Undertake service reviews and make recommendations to Relationship Director for areas of improvement

  • Provide day to day service provision for a portfolio of customers

  • May be required to act as a product champion, liaising with representatives from other group companies to provide expertise in their area

  • Preparation and implementation of strategic campaigns

  • Work with Corporate Credit Managers and Corporate Credit Assistants to manage the evaluation and execution of large structured transactions

  • Determine the products that most effectively meet customer need and be able to sell, at short notice, on a proactive and reactive basis

  • Monitor set-up of products from other areas of the Barclays Group.

  • Ensure that new customers and products are set up on relevant systems.

  • Make customer visits to obtain KYC documentation with the KYC Manager.

  • Take responsibility for routine duties on a rota basis with other members of the team. This will include administration such as holiday list, returns, inter departmental meetings, etc.

  • Attend Corporate Relationship Team meetings and contribute fully, including suggestions for ways of improving customer service.

  • Attend team meetings and contribute to environment of mutual support by sharing knowledge with other team members



Technical Skills/Competencies

Skills required to undertake the role:



  • Basic keyboard skills.

  • Proficient in use of internal computer systems including Customer Gateway, Salesforce, Customer Relationship Management System and any other platform applications.

Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank's products, services and policies)

Essential


A good knowledge of:



  • Branch based products and services frequently used by Complex/Large corporate customers including features, tariff/pricing and availability.

  • Internal instructions/procedures

  • The roles and responsibilities of other members of the Corporate Relationship Team.

  • Products and services offered by other areas of the Barclays Group which are frequently used by Complex/Large corporate customers including features, tariff/pricing and availability.

  • The Bank's service standards (including Service Initiative, National Complaints Initiative, Code of Business and Personal Banking).

  • Certain products, processes or issues to act as 'Team Expert' in areas which complement detailed knowledge of other team members.



Preferred



  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of individuals based in other areas of the Barclays Group who could typically have some involvement with the customer base.


Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank and customers (including Data Protection Act, Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Financial Services Act and confidentiality regulations).


Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role


  • The length of time in the role will typically be a minimum of 18 months.

  • There are no specific qualifications other than the Bank's entry requirements.

  • Undertaking or having completed A.C.I.B. examinations would be an advantage.
