 PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


 


The Business Manager of Corporate Marketing & Communications (CMC) provides analytical and research support to the CMC lead team which includes the director of CMC regarding financial operations and administration, business planning, risk management and management reporting. Serves to leverage the CMC lead team by acting as liaison, as appropriate, to the business units and other shared services groups on financial and business management related efforts. The Business Manager proactively manages financials, metrics, risk management and general CMC issues as they arise, and is responsible for supporting the CMC lead team as appropriate. This position will also manage or participate in intra- and cross-departmental initiatives representing CMC, as well as provide leverage to other managers in CMC.


 


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES


 


Business Planning: Provides support to CMC lead team with planning, project management, presentations, firm-wide committees, etc. Serves as a resource to the CMC Lead Team by providing key information and analytical support. Conducts analysis and works in conjunction with CMC GM, Director of CMC and other management to facilitate annual operating and finance plan.


Finance/Budget: Manages the CMC global budget and monthly expense reporting to ensure proper budgetary controls. Develops, analyzes and makes recommendations regarding budget reports to provide a comprehensive financial and operational update to the CMC lead team. Attends quarterly financial/business conversations with CFO and participates in Finance Manager meetings. Represents CMC with Facilities on administrative matters such as space planning, working closely with GM to ensure proper understanding of future growth. Accountable for providing recommendations on budget issues to the GM and resolving those issues (e.g. SOXA review/signoff).


Risk Management: Proactively safeguards the company and the CMC business unit by applying appropriate risk management practices and programs. Organizes and leads the CMC-wide compliance initiative and presents (with the CMC GM and CMC Director) the annual CMC Compliance presentation to TRP Compliance Group. Maintains schedule and relationships with enterprise risk management, internal auditors and compliance. Assures compliance with corporate policies such as gifts and entertainment, travel, etc. Acts as liaison to internal service providers to assure risk management and financial integrity. In conjunction with the CMC GM works with TRP Risk Management team to assess overall CMC risk management. Manages business continuity (BC) for CMC-Pratt Street, including leading phone tree exercise and updating BC Plan


Metrics: Initiates and manages process for measuring and providing metrics for both CMC overall, as well as coordinating metrics for each CMC functional group. Provides input to the development of future metrics and processes. Creates summary metrics (scorecard) for review by the CMC Lead Team on quarterly basis, and to be used when presenting to senior management (e.g., Finance Committee, Compliance). Performs analysis and provides input to CMC GM that informs CMC-wide decisions regarding allocation of resources and staffing needs.


Communication and Project Work: Leverages CMC GM's time by leading or participating in enterprise- or division-wide strategic projects as needed and assigned. Supports CMC GM on CMC communication strategy and coordinates CMC Friday News and CMC All-Associates meeting agendas.


QUALIFICATIONS


Required



  • College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or

  • Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or

  • High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience



  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solver

  • Strong execution abilities and proven to have delivered results

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Experience in developing both strategic and tactical solutions for problems and opportunities

  • Must work across firm to utilize resources, information and to obtain support for CMC and other initiatives

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; position requires interaction with all levels of internal staff

  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently

  • Strong relationship management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as well as PeopleSoft, Essbase, and MTK
