JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job) This is a key position within the Corporate Investments Infrastructure team responsible for the ongoing support including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the IT infrastructure across multiple vendors and locations. This position will also be instrumental in the management of system availability, configuration management, change management, performance management, and security management of the IT infrastructure. PRINCIPLE ROLES/ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will: Role: Design High availability design using industry standard 24x7 IT roadmap. Design and architect IT solutions based on associated functional requirements. Work with vendor partners to develop and preset technical roadmap designs Develop costing of solutions per requirements Role: Implement Installation and configuration of new IT infrastructure hardware/software. Test and perform QA functions to validate the functionality of IT infrastructure hardware/software. Prepare training materials and provide support training among support team. Implement and maintain disaster recovery solutions as they relate to the infrastructure Role: Support Day-to-day server hardware and software support and monitoring of the UNIX environment including Operating System software and security compliance, maintenance, hardware break/fix, and performance troubleshooting Creation and management of documentation on the configuration and support of IT infrastructure devices. Participate in night-time/weekend on call rotation and as needed (24 x 7) to provide after hour support during technical emergencies impacting the business. Role: Administer Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts that are generated from monitoring systems. Identify opportunities and implement solutions to streamline or eliminate manual server operations task Implement system device configurations based on requests from end users following IT policies and procedures. Identify and implement practices to increase server reliability for high availability performance Develop and maintain policies and procedures for configuration/change management as well as capacity/performance management of related IT infrastructure devices. Role: Secure Develop best practices based on associated security policies, industry security standards, and audit regulations to ensure devices are appropriately secured from security breaches. Resolve compliance break-fix incidents based on vulnerability testing, audits, and/or associated security-monitoring systems. Implement security practices on associated IT infrastructure devices. Role: Improve Review performance and capacity management systems to determine appropriate system tuning and recommended system modifications, which could improve the overall operations of the environment. Work with the engineering teams and vendors to be proactive in improving the IT hardware/software production facilities. Provide leadership for system hardware and software support. Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned. METRICS: Basic standards regarding how success will be measured System availability meeting 99.9% service availability. Average resolution of incidents within 1 day. Response during on call within 20 minutes. Implementation of system changes following associated processes 100% of the time. Implementation of new and/or modified devices meeting 100% of system builds standards. Completed of project milestones on time. Qualifications 5+ years of advanced Unix Systems Administration 3+ years of NAS administration Expertise in large distributed computing/client-server architecture, Unix/Linux, Network File Systems and NTFS file sharing Experienced with monitoring, security, and networking (TCP/IP) concepts Experience with scripting to customize functionality of server and storage systems Ability to self-manage and follow through on tasks from inception to closure Superior ability to clearly document technical environments and concepts Experience working with system monitoring tools such as Nagios and Ganglia Proven technical troubleshooting experience in a multi-platform Linux/Unix environment (network and server) Significant experience in Perl, HTML, CGI, and shell scripting (ksh, sh, bash)
