PwC’s UK Consulting business is looking for a Consultant to develop into a programme management, project management or PMO specialist within their Project and Programme Management (PPM) Group, specifically in the Security, Defence or Home Affairs sectors. The PPM team are called on to manage or direct a client's own project or as part of a wider PwC team delivering a specific project for a client, in increasingly complex environments across both the public and private sectors. As part of our growth strategy, we will focus on delivering more transformational change on behalf of our clients. In this role, due to the diverse range of our clients and their environments, experience of formal project management disciplines and a demonstrable ability to use this in a pragmatic fashion (e.g. Prince2, APM or other proven approach) is essential. You will need to deploy sound planning and control skills as well as excellent communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills. Previous experience of conducting reviews of large projects is an additional asset. Establishing both external and internal networks will be an important part of the role. About the role
We have high growth targets and part of the strategy for this growth is to bring in experienced hires in the positions of Consultant where the position offers:
You will work on behalf of the client responsible for the management of individual work streams – either as part of a wider programme or portfolio or within standalone projects. Management responsibility is likely to span internal client resource, existing contractors and 3rd party suppliers. Key Responsibilities:
There will be opportunities for some focus on product and business development, and it is expected that the role will grow to include an increased focus in this area. Yes - some Amount of time PwC office based - 20% RequirementsEssential skills: · Educated to degree level or above · Experience of a proven project management methodology and a demonstrable ability to use this in a pragmatic fashion e.g. Prince2, APM or other· Experience in the Security, Defence or Home Affairs sectors. · Security cleared to at least SC level · Experience of many of the following: planning, status reporting, risk management, benefits management, stakeholder management, team and resource management, resource planning, financial planning, budgeting, quality assurance, third party contract management · Experience of managing sections of the project lifecycle · Possess excellent inter personal and developed communication skills, both verbal and written in English · Flexibility and ability to travel extensively both in the UK and abroad · Strong desire to succeed in a dynamic environment (you will need to be able to stand out from the crowd and act as a positive role model) · The ability to work alone or as part of a team and a track record of delivering quality work for clients · An ability to maintain respectful client relationships. · An ability to oversee and engage proactively with Subject Mater Experts · Experience in building internal and external relationships and networks· An ability to promptly address problems and maintain professional standards · An ability to plan and deliver work against tight deadlines · An ability to manage budgeting, resourcing, billing and compliance considerations · An ability to identify and address risk management issues · An ability to take advantage of new opportunities for learning, sharing new knowledge; being intellectually agile and able to think creatively. · An ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in the work or business environments. Adjusting to new work structures, processes, regulations, requirements or cultures Desirable skills: · MSP and/or PRINCE 2 qualified (or similar) · Sector/ industry experience · Good understanding of and aptitude for commercial and financial matters and their management within both a project and corporate environment
