Visa Inc.'s Information Services (IS) organization leverages Visa transaction data to drive revenue and improve operational efficiency for Visa. The IS team is part of the Global Open Systems Development group based in Foster City, CA that manages Visa Inc.'s global solutions, services, and systems including, but not limited to, loyalty, Internet, business intelligence, corporate systems, information management initiatives and back office applications.

 

The successful candidate will be a hands-on manager in the Consolidated Master Log Service (CMLS) / Common Data Infrastructure (CDI) application area (batch and Data warehouse applications including Legacy applications).

 

Primary responsibilities:


  • Provide technology leadership for the Enterprise Data Warehousing application suite by helping to drive project planning, estimation, budget, resource forecasting, and technology planning.

  • Develop the roadmap for Master Data Management (MDM) applications and enhancing processes for interaction with various groups.

  • Partner with application developers, architects, engineers, and various groups supporting loyalty applications to drive new initiatives.

  • Collaborate with project and development teams to ensure on time delivery of projects, production support plans, and knowledge transfer for long-term supportability of upgrades, enhancements, and deployments.

  • Review and approve critical project gates/deliverables as required.

  • Identify existing productivity issues and opportunities, developing methods and systems to improve these functions and managing their implementation.

  • Manage a dispersed project team of internal resources, external contractors and consultants (US, Singapore and India sites).

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) within the Master Data Management (MDM) area.

  • Develop budgetary forecasts and administer actual operating expenses within cost center.

  • Ensure that support and development activities comply with corporate policies and adhere to industry best practices.  Evaluate and ensure that current procedures and practices are appropriate for accomplishing department objectives, and that supporting regulatory requirements are adequately documented and operating within policy.

  • Serve as liaison between the various organizational entities and building relationships with members of these organizations.

  • Develop close working relationships and dependencies with members of teams within the organization.


  • Minimum 8 years experience in designing and developing data-centric applications.

  • Minimum 5 years experience managing a globally dispersed team of 10 or more developers.

  • Understanding of technical development using Ab Initio or Informatica is a must.

  • Expert knowledge in Master Data Management (MDM).

  • Proven high-impact player with an impressive track record of execution and driving change in a collaborative and thoughtful manner.

  • Proven experience managing and mentoring a diverse team of experts, with and without a direct reporting relationship. Experience managing a dispersed team (preferably in the US, Singapore and India).

  • Ability to understand business requirements, architecture, development and implementation using systems development best practices.

  • A well developed and methodical decision making process is required.

  • Prior experience in a development role in a large data warehousing / ETL environment.

  • Proven ability in delivering large scale global projects on time and within budget.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and negotiate the best possible outcomes.

  • Very strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and team building skills are essential.

  • Must work well in a fast-paced, changing environment and be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects, all with different priorities.

  • IBM Mainframe z-OS experience is a plus.

  • Experience in the Payments or Financial industries a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or other technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
