Who we are looking for

Business Modelling Consulting - Senior Associate - London

Our PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Strategy competency group supports clients in the areas of business unit strategy, transaction services, valuation, economics, brand / intellectual property management and risk management. A large proportion of this work involves financial and operating analysis, simulation, forecasting and data management. Strategy works across 16 industry sectors and as a business modeller, you will often be working across various other Competency areas and a range of industries.   The Strategy Modelling group are looking to continue their impressive growth through the recruitment of further outstanding consultants. The group provides modelling and analytical services to help clients with a diverse range of issues, including:

  • Financial/Business projections, supporting corporate, business unit or organisational strategy;
  • Decision support including business case and benefits management;
  • Operational improvement for example through simulation and activity analysis;
  • Business reporting tools and financial applications;
  • Tactical data analysis and KPI reporting.
Our Consulting team is co-ordinated on a global basis to deliver appropriate solutions to clients to meet the needs of ever changing financial, business and regulatory environments, often working in with close collaboration with other professionals.

About the role

The Strategy Modelling team is one of four core competencies in Strategy Consulting (other competencies being Economics, Strategy Consulting, Policy & Research). The team works across all industry sectors.  

As a member of the Modelling Group you will work in multi-disciplinary teams with our clients to build and review business models that support their decision-making. You will often be working directly with senior client management, leading and participating in meetings with senior client staff and colleagues to add value to our clients through identifying and delivering benefits which are sustainable.

As a team, we offer continuous learning opportunities (on the job or through formal internal and external training). You will be encouraged to contribute to the team learning and share knowledge via internal presentations, tutoring on internal courses or by contributing material to the knowledge database.

Day to day responsibilities are:

 

  • Contributing to winning new;
  • Planning and delivering work to integrate with other advisers and the client to add sustainable value;
  • Acquiring and sharing knowledge to build your own expertise and that of other staff.

Additional information

Requirements

As a modeller you will demonstrate sound business knowledge and be financially literate.  You will have a gift for problem solving and possess a natural ability to express complex financial, commercial and modelling issues in non-technical language.

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of an integrated team, solve complex problems under pressure, and have excellent communication skills. You will be analytically minded and have the ability quickly to assimilate and apply new techniques and knowledge to deliver insights and solve problems.

The following skills are also required for this role:

Essential skills:

·         Education to Degree level as a minimum, ideally with finance, engineering, Operational Research,  or other numerical subject matter.

·         At least some experience of one or more of the following subjects is essential:

Activity Based Costing; Customer and Product Analytics, Operational Research; Simulation; System Dynamics; supply chains; business case development; demand forecasting; financial/MI reporting; cost management.

·         Experience of supervising staff and / or working with or leading a team

·         Previous track record of day to day client handling

·         Ability to communicate technical information in non-technical language

Desirable skills:   ·         Further personal / industry qualifications such as ACA/CIMA or MBA are valued but not considered essential.  

·         You probably have strong skills in MS Excel and VBA, but we are also interested in experience with other toolsets in relation to the subjects listed above including for example, simulation packages, Essbase, SAP PCM, Oracle, SQL, ETL and dashboard tools..
