And our culture of innovation means your ideas on how to improve our business and your clients' will be heard.   Visit www.deloitte.com/us/careers to learn more about our culture, benefits, and opportunities.   Deloitte Tax LLP helps companies understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align the tax function with business objectives.   Position Summary:   Deloitte Tax professionals of the National Federal Tax Services (NFTS) practice work with local office Deloitte Tax professionals to assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis .  These Federal tax professionals work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas.   As a Tax Senior Manager in our NFTS practice primary responsibilities will include: oversight of complex tax projects for clients in diverse industries, participation in engagements requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates, research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues encountered on our projects, and working closely with both our engagement teams and our Partners.   Tax Senior Managers supervise assignments by Tax Consultants, Tax Senior Consultants and Managers. They have responsibility for the development and motivation of engagement staff and provide them with leadership, counseling and career guidance. They must identify and effectively communicate technical tax and service issues to the Partners and Directors responsible for the projects. They should work closely with Partners and Directors and support them in their role to identify service opportunities, manage client accounts and billing, and advance various Deloitte initiatives. They have extensive technical skills and have developed their reputation in a given industry/service offering and are viewed as such by our practice offices.     Research & Development Tax Incentives   The NFTS, Research and Development Tax Incentives (R&D) tax team is a national team of specialists dedicated to providing comprehensive research and development tax incentive services. R&D incentives provide significant tax benefits at the federal, state and local level.  These benefits are offered for research conducted in the United States, as well as research performed in over 30 other countries that offer research incentives.  The R&D credit is one of the most significant of the remaining U.S. domestic tax credits.   R&D targets Fortune 500 Companies eligible for various R&D Tax Incentives.  Our team includes many former IRS officials who personally participated in the development of R&D credit regulations and rulings.  In addition to extensive industry and technical experience, our specialists are supported by an electronic database of work programs, templates and technical resources that give our professionals a distinct advantage in delivering.   • 7 or more years Core Federal Tax experience required
  • Big 4 experience or equivalent a plus
  • R&D Tax Incentives experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Technology or other R&D-related field required
  • Advanced Degree preferred: MST, MAcc or LLM
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent or other appropriate certification required
  • Strong interaction skills with management/executive presence
  • Participation in all aspects of engagement strategic planning initiatives
  • Excellent research and interviewing, as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to sell services directly to clients required
  • Flexibility for extensive travel
