Requirements Base II Compliance Analyst

We have an immediate opportunity for a critical thinker with a solid background in risk management. Our Basel II Legal group is seeking a Basel II Compliance Analyst who can work in a collaborative environment with our business partners. This role will ensure regulatory Basel II requirements results by providing advice, support and counsel to mitigate risks and ensure standards are met according to corporate guidelines.

Purpose Statement

Responsible for ensuring assigned business line's compliance of Bank of the West’s Basel II Program with regulatory Basel II requirements. Collaborates with business, risk and other Basel-related team members to ensure Basel II Program and related line of business efforts are consistent with regulatory-compliant outcomes.

Essential Functions

1. Subject matter expert in assigned aspects of Basel II credit, operational and/or market risk rules, and providing compliance advice and support to Basel II Program and business units.

2. Monitors plans, documentation, deliverables and other work generated by the Basel II Program including business unit Basel II teams. Prepares written assessments of compliance with U.S. Basel II regulatory requirements.

3. Gathers, analyzes and evaluates data gathered from multiple sources to develop informed compliance conclusions. Counsels business lines on revisions necessary or improvements to be implemented.

4. Documents and escalates rule interpretations or compliance issues that require resolution.
5. Supports Basel II rule-tracking infrastructure. Works with the Basel II Program requirements database owner, to support correct mappings of extracted rule components to Basel II program requirements, gaps, work streams, and projects in the database.

Education

Required Education or Equivalent Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree required

Required Experience

• 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the banking industry. U.S. Basel II experience highly preferred.

Administrative/Technical Skills/ Other Information

• Demonstrated affinity for detailed text analysis and dissection of legal/regulatory requirements, recognizing key concepts behind rules, and understanding how regulations apply to banking products and practices.

• An ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of banking, bank products, credit, operational and/or market risk management, and the bank regulatory environment.

• Prior experience working in a highly regulated environment.

• Prior experience working with large implementation projects and basic project management disciplines.

• Prior experience in a compliance, risk management, or regulatory position preferred.
