Job Description We are currently seeking an analyst level candidate to join our financial institutions team based in Milan to concentrate primarily on the rating of financial institutions in Italy. Working in a small team under the supervision of a Senior Director, training will be provided as required, but you will be expected to assume some degree of responsibility from an early stage. You will be expected to travel within Italy and participate in comprehensive meetings with senior management at rated institutions, carry out data analysis and bank research, and write credit rating reports in English and present your credit findings to a rating committee. You will also be expected, in due course, to deal with investor queries and, prepare for and attend rating committees on banks from other geographic areas as well as contributing toward internal discussions on rating issues. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following; - Closely follow developments at rated institutions, assessing the potential impact on the rated entity and maintaining the relationship with the rated entity - Follow sector-wide developments and assess their potential impact on rated institutions, participating in the preparation of special reports - Participate in rating committees for other rated financial institutions - Regularly meet rated institutions to discuss strategy, performance and risk management with senior management. It is important that you are able to work independently whilst also being a good team player who is able to cope with time pressure and deadlines, happy to travel (around 20% ofworking time) and appreciate different cultures. Person Specification Ideally you will have gained some relevant experience which may have been gained from within an audit firm, a bank or from within a regulatory environment. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate a balance between incisive numerical and analytical skills together with an ability to produce concise commentary in English; you must have excellent communication skills including fluency in all forms of Italian and English, knowledge of additional European languages would be an advantage. Given the nature of this role, demonstrable knowledge of the Italian financial markets would be an advantage but is not essential.
