POSITION SUMMARY


 


The Security and Compliance Officer will oversee and coordinate security efforts across the company, including information technology, and will identify security initiatives and standards.  Perform periodic information security risk assessments and serve as an internal auditor for security issues to ensure that appropriate access levels to confidential printed and electronic information are maintained.  Ensure that security standards are compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements and meet or exceed external audit requirements.  Evaluate and recommend new information security technologies and new countermeasures against threats to information or privacy.


 


JOB SCOPE



  • Oversee safeguarding of the company's assets and computer systems.

  • Identify protection goals, objectives and metrics consistent with corporate strategic plan.

  • Manage the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security.  Information protection responsibilities will include network security architecture, network access and monitoring policies, employee education and awareness, and more.

  • Work across the organization and with management to prioritize security initiatives and spending based on appropriate risk management and/or financial methodology.

  • Maintain relationships, as needed, with related government and regulatory agencies.

  • Oversee incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary.

  • Engage, oversee, and participate with outside consultants as appropriate for independent security audits and compliance reviews.  Develop plans and lead to closure all audit findings.

  • Proactively ensure that applications, systems, offices and vendors are in compliance with requirements.

  • Manage critical functions and processes related to security compliance and remediation.

  • Manage tools and processes related to these functions, including the integrity and completeness of reporting as required by management, the law, risk, audit, compliance, and external regulators.

  • Acts as the highest level of internal resource with ultimate knowledge, influences, and/or jurisdiction on security and compliance.

  • Maintain policies for access to information and buildings.

  • Lead a team responsible for analysis, planning, and implementation of security and compliance related activities.

  • Responsible for compliance and audit of applications, systems, offices, and vendors to meet applicable Visa, financial information, and security requirements

  • Participate in responding to RFPs and clients questions on security, compliance, and audit related inquiries.  Will require in-depth knowledge of systems and applications, networking, and technology.  As need, meet with clients to provide responses to security questions, audits, etc. as well.

  • Lead global projects, develop timelines, manage project team, and drive deliverables on time and on budget.

  • Manage staff issues, including selection, goal setting, annual reviews and career development.


 

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in CS, IT or equivalent work experience.  Masters preferred.  Typically requires a minimum 8-10 years progressively responsible experience in hardware, software, applications, security, compliance, and process with a minimum 5 years management experience.

  • Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the team and is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff, clients, vendors, and auditors.

  • Demonstrated experience with security, compliance, business continuity planning, auditing, and risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation.

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of pertinent law and the law enforcement community.

  • Must have a solid understanding of information technology and information security.

  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills.

  • Exhibit advanced planning, organizational, and problem solving skills.

  • Strong project management skills with ability to drive consensus in cross regional and cross functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and client needs, providing the best solutions to meet those needs.

  • Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support strategic organizational plans.

  • Strong understanding of current industry standards and practices, along with a process oriented background.

  • Able to make sound decisions, exercise insightful judgment.

  • Strong teamwork skills and excellent collaboration skills with the ability to collaborate with inter-disciplinary groups.
