Datamonitor is looking for exceptional candidates to grow and develop the Healthcare Consultancy practice serving some of the world’s largest healthcare and pharmaceutical companies. As a Senior Consultant you are expected to contribute fully to the Datamonitor corporate objectives and the objectives of the Healthcare Business Unit. Given the competitiveness of the consulting industry, client satisfaction is the key to long-term success. As such, commercial awareness, communication skills, rigor in analysis and reporting, flexibility and cultural sensitivity are key factors for a consultant’s success. As a Senior Consultant, your key responsibilities will be: Project Management: Work with the Directors of Consulting and Principal Consultants to understand project proposals and translate these into comprehensive briefs and actionable project work plans. Manage forecasting and other relevant projects with little guidance to produce high quality deliverables to meet internal/client-requested timeframes. Monitor progress and overcome challenges that arise to deliver completed projects to the agreed schedule. Project execution:  As a Senior Consultant it will be your responsibility to set the high standards required of consultants within the team. This will include understanding the reasoning behind a consulting project, the client’s agenda and the priorities of the different project elements. Demonstrate the ability to identify and structure project-related issues, analyse these and develop recommendations. Use established conceptual strategy and marketing frameworks for analysing data and communicating project results delivering superior consulting solutions with respect to forecasting-based project work primarily within Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US Business Development: Identify and understand the needs of the client base, keeping abreast of competitor offerings and the implications for Datamonitor’s service proposition. Support the Directors of Consulting and Principal Consultants in pitching for and winning new business and clients. Develop on-going and in-depth contact with key clients through projects and conferences.  The successful applicant will possess:
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Proven communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word essential
  • Proven client management and presentation skills
  • Ability to work across a range of projects at the same time with varying degrees of complexity
  • Ability to see the big picture and understand how the client will use the information to meet commercial objectives
  • Ability to think laterally about researching and sourcing information using internal and external data resources
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to dive into detail and analyse key issues, identify insights and develop actionable recommendations
  • A central element of this role will be developing, modifying, and implementing custom (typically Excel-based) market-based and event-driven forecast models and tools for in-line products, new products, business development and market assessments:
    • Should be familiar with patient segmentation, patient flow and various types of sales or unit/Trx based approaches
    • Track record of  shaping the scope and approach used as well as delivering forecasts to non-forecasters would be an advantage
    • Familiarity with risk analysis/decision tool software packages such as @risk, crystal ball would be an advantage
    • Experience in VBA from the basic to the advanced would be an advantage
 Ideal Background:
  •  Minimum 2:1 degree in a related discipline, an MBA or MSc is an advantage but not essential
  • The candidate will have a background in licensing/forecasting and/or opportunity assessments either within a pharmaceutical company or having consulted to or worked with healthcare and pharmaceutical companies
  • They will also have demonstrated career progression including the management of teams either through direct line responsibility or on a virtual basis. They should be able to bring out the best in a team in demanding situations
  • Knowledge of different research methodologies (gained either through briefing agencies and working with the data or through their agency experience) would be an advantage
