Department Overview The department operates a shift system from Monday to Friday over the hours 0800 to 1800. Shifts are allocated according to workflow demands and, while subject to periodic review, are usually fixed. Temporary shift changes and working outside standard hours will sometimes be required as the workload demands. Occasionally a member of the team is required to provide publishing cover on a holiday although this requirement is kept to a minimum. Shift changes and alternative start and end times for daily work will be at the discretion of the department head. Job Description Core Activites: • Manage and oversee the daily updating of Fitch’s ratings databases and related information under tight deadlines. • Provide oversight to ensure that bond coverage reflects Fitch’s presence in international capital markets, including specific indices. • Oversee quality control of press releases, up to publication. • Manage a team of three people, one of whom is in Hong Kong. Key Responsibities and Duties: • Liaise with members of the analytical groups to manage large data projects relating to rating and bond data in Fitch’s databases. • Daily oversight of issue ratings and related information, including monitoring various financial content providers to identify and access debt issuance in the market. • Oversee collection and verification of specific bond issue information to include in data fields in Fitch Ratings’ issue database. Assign ratings based on parameters agreed with analytical groups. • Maintain and enforce standards for electronic publishing as per compliance guidelines. • Manage rule set and best practice for compiling and publishing new issue data to the web; negotiate revisions to the rules with senior management. • Communicate routinely with International offices to monitor and add issue information from both Fitch analysts or banks. • Be the primary contact for resolving issue-related queries from clients served by International. • Define and maintain validation procedures to ensure data entered into Fitch systems is accurate and timely. • Oversee production of monthly ratings book. • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with Ratings team counterparts in New York. • Assist in solving data queries or problems relating to ancillary applications and the ratings databases. Person Specification Skills required: • Business knowledge, with a financial services background, preferably in fixed income. • Strong Excel and SQL skills. • Proficient in the use of Bloomberg. Ability to research and learn to use new databases. Familiarity with key indexes, including IBOXX, Lehman Pan European and Merrill Lynch indexes a plus. • Strong organizational skills; ability to work on tight deadlines while managing long-term projects. • Understanding of CUSIP and ISIN systems and their use, in addition to global fixed income and equity market operations, financial databases as well as Microsoft Excel. • Professional communication skills and the ability to liaise with top management as well as analysts. • University graduate or graduate-calibre.
