The PMD has overall accountability for both Team Managers (TMs) of Project Managers (PMs) and individual PMs who are responsible for orchestrating, facilitating, testing and delivering defined benefit, defined contribution, executive compensation and Total Retirement Solution related projects (including revenue generating Change Orders) that have been approved to be managed outside of the Implementation/Conversion Organization. The PMD will represent the CM&C organization on internal projects/initiatives discussions and governance committees that require CM&C buy-in, participation and approval; then once approved determine/deploy the appropriate resources necessary to execute projects/initiatives in accordance with agreed to budgets, time frames and goals. The PMD will be accountable for ensuring there is an appropriate business continuity and contingency plan across the CM&C organization so in an emergency situation the CM&C organization can re-establish its operations in accordance with RPS ' (and its clients) dictates and expectations. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: · Partner with the Client Managers (CMs), Relationship Managers (RMs) and others to determine scope definition and pricing for projects. · Oversee (either directly or via delegation to Team Mangers) the planning and timely execution of projects/change orders in accordance with approved budgets and goals; this will include but is not limited to determining time and resources needed and prioritizing these along with additional project requests. · Ensure that appropriate contingency plans are defined/deployed and/or reprioritizations take place so that projects stay on course; this includes but is not limited to working with the team to ensure RPS is meeting project SLAs and thus avoiding fee penalties and diminished client satisfaction ratings. · When it is necessary to veer of course, ensure all issues/reasons are vetted with internal and external constituents (including the client) so that all are in sync and agree to revised deadlines and/or goals. · Participate in (or delegate as appropriate) the review of new business that is either "Fee for service" or requires an "Exception" Approval to determine what if any resources/expense will be required and/or risk will be created if we deliver in accordance with the new business request. Put forth a recommendation for an appropriate solution to such requests. · Work with the SDs of the CMs to ensure that there is an appropriate course of action established that ensures that process and/or scope changes are documented and existing Statements of Work and/or contractual agreements are appropriately amended to incorporate such changes. · Establish strong and collaborative relationships with internal partners to ensure a cohesive approach is executed so we are collectively able to achieve high quality, on time, on budget project goals and objectives. · Oversee and monitor project management practices to ensure execution at the highest level. · Oversee internal and external post-mortem exercises to identify lessons learned and process improvements, then deploy changes as necessary. · To the extent that a product or process in existence is not meeting client specifications or is not performing adequately, incorporate the Process Improvement/Efficiency Team into a review and utilize this team's Six Sigma DMAIC methodology: Define the project goals and deliverables for both internal and external customers, Measure the process to determine current performance, Analyze and determine the root cause(s) of the defects, Improve the process by eliminating defects, and Control future process performance, then synergize the lessons learned and improvements made with the entire CM&C organization and its colleagues to ensure the same or similar circumstances and/or failures do not re-occur. · Lead internal release activities that require CM&C participation and if necessary ensure ongoing post conversion support to address trouble and/or bug resolutions. · Manage to department budget and as noted previously oversee project budgets and communicate financial risk situations to senior management. · Ensure that team members understand the strategies and action steps they must take in order to strengthen and align their clients with RPS' goals. · Identify ongoing opportunities for process improvements and improved standardization including assessing operational process efficiencies in relation to current client procedures and ensuring that these are instituted. · Keep up to date on legal and regulatory issues or changes. Determine, in conjunction with Product Management, Operations, Technical Support and the Legal Department how these may impact RPS' clients, processes or procedures and oversee any CM&C project(s) that may be necessary to comply with these. · Identify and implement process / departmental improvements, identify leveragability of changes across clients. TECHNICAL & FUNCTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES · Ability to partner/collaborate with other members of operations, IT, marketing, sales and relationship management to build strong working relationships between team members, improve processes between groups and minimize risk to the firm. · At least 15 years experience in retirement plan and/or financial services in a combination of operations, relationship management and/or product strategy and possessing a broad knowledge of retirement related products and service differentiators and how operating systems play a role in delivering these. · At least 8 years experience in leadership and management. · Strong influence, diplomacy and negotiating skills. · Able to demonstrate: - Strategic agility - Quality Decision Making - Managerial Courage - Coaching for Results · Adept at: - Attracting, retaining and growing best in class staff - Managing Change - Managing & Measuring Results - Building Team Success · Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
