Assists in closing the most unusual, complex loan closings and resolve instances of disputed closing issues. Interact with closing agents, Company attorneys, correspondents and originators, as well as operations to resolve disputed closing issues and handle the most difficult/complicated loan closings. Provide training and guidance to other areas of Mortgage, particularly in handling difficult, sensitive and disputed loan situations. Distribute educational materials and instructional classes to aid in the development of the Mortgage Operations staff. Maintain conformance of current Company, industry and regulatory closing policy guidelines and procedures; interpret these to all operations staff. Ensure completed loan closing instruction and loan packages and proper documentation availability to provide for legal document recording. Document and evaluate procedural or policy weaknesses and inconsistencies to avoid actual or perceived closing risk to the Division and Company; provide input and/or reports to other Mortgage areas to ensure their awareness of situations under their control encountered during the review process.   Maintain the input of all loan fees in the loan origination system and ensure they meet Company, state and investor requirements and guidelines to ensure accurate preparation of certain closing documents. Maintain and input criteria for all closing documents in the system to ensure correct documents print for all closing packages based on government and product guidelines. Maintain awareness of changes in Company, regulatory and closing policy guidelines that impact mortgage activities. Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements). Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements). Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.   Basic Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, law, related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years proven and progressive mortgage banking operations experience or equivalent, including loan documentation and a minimum of two years closing experience or equivalent
  • Proven communications, organizational, decision-making, analytical and customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of Company policies, government regulations, investor requirements and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
