Position Overview
This position reports to the Technical Services and Operations (TSO) Director and will provide leadership to the TSO Distributed Project Management team and performs hands-on project management of TSO initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
• Provide functional leadership and staff management of TSO Distributed-tier Projects on/off-shore team members • Perform team assessments and evaluations • Manage and coordinate delivery of TSO distributed-tier projects and technologies • Develop, implement and continuously improve an ITIL-based Service Delivery methodology • Implement project management best practices throughout functional organization • Lead high-visibility, business-critical technology projects • Report and advise TSO Management on any changes affecting client or project implementation • Develop & apply repeatable process methodologies through documented processes and procedures • Develop and implement team performance metrics • Establishes and maintains a close-working relationship with all project stakeholders and technical staff to ensure alignment between solutions being delivered to business goals • Effectively communicates with customer and SunGard business leadership • Work with appropriate audit groups to ensure meeting compliance requirements such as SOX, SAS70, and others as applicable. • Organize and transition the care, custody and control of project works to operational support teams upon project completion • Establish and nurture a culture of Continuous Improvement - streamlining and implementing improvements to ensure processes are scalable for growth and utilize resources in the most effective manner possible • Perform hands-on project management, to include: o Develops and maintains project and resource plans, maintains quality and focus, monitors and controls project expenditures against approved budget and successfully manages end to end solution delivery process for one or more larger scale IT projects or oversees multiple small to large sized projects with minimal direction o Work independently and within virtual teams leading various IA and Segment initiatives o Organizes and delivers project related communications as determined during project governance formation. Responsible for ensuring all project stakeholders based on the level of interest and authority are well informed of project progress and decisions o Coordinate information gathering and defines resources and schedules for project/program implementation o Creates strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning o Plans and schedules project deliverables, goals and milestones o Obtain stakeholder agreements and appropriate internal approvals o Draft and submit project budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary o Identify, create, coordinate and document technical implementation plans and tasks throughput project lifecycle o Adjust to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving techniques o Facilitate project planning sessions and document output of the facilitation o Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans o Collaborate with business and technical resources to report project status and resulting performance of technical projects o Ensure thorough, timely, and consistent communication is disseminated to the appropriate teams, internally and externally o Efficiently identifies and solves project issues o Maintain and report status of project portfolio o Escalate issues that may impede project delivery Position Requirements
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in an IT-related discipline, or the equivalent of education and experience • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience (technical support, technical project management, network operations, etc.) • 3+ years experience leading and managing a team • 3+ years managing medium/large-scale technical projects • In-depth knowledge of Project Management Methodologies • Strong knowledge of application architectures and technologies • Intermediate knowledge of desktop and server hardware • Intermediate knowledge of desktop, server, and operating systems, including MS Enterprise Server and Linux • Familiarity with physical, database, application, and network security • Critical thinking and problem solving skills • Strong communication skills • Ability to influence and lead • Effective delegation skills • Team building skills • Demonstrated negotiation skills • Conflict management skills • Able to adapt to change and tolerate stress • Ability to travel, up to 10%
