PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

The primary purpose of this role is to analyze expenses of the funds to be in accordance with contractual provisions (specifically with the Transfer Agent, RPS Transfer Agent, Fund Accounting, Investment Management and various Custodian agreements) and to continue to meet the low cost provider designation as compared to historical data.  Expense analysis includes reviewing payments of the mutual funds, estimating expenses for all funds and performing a fiduciary responsibility on the fund's behalf.  Additional responsibilities will include cross training on functions within CAG, including dissemination of cash estimates for the funds and various reporting responsibilities for both internal and external usage.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Reports - review daily reports completed by Associates  to meet CAG metrics of accuracy and timeliness (30%) and produce/review monthly reports for internal (investment staff, finance managers, Funds' Board) and external customers (e.g., custodians, shareholder reports, funds' prospectus) (30%):  review and maintain management fee calculations (daily & monthly), daily expense accruals on MFs and 529s (40%).  Daily reports are spreadsheet based - Sr Assoc understands purpose and identifies issues/inaccuracies in calculations (therefore requires more detailed understanding).  Monthly reports (Net Asset, Cash Flow, Change in Net Asset):  import information from other sources (e.g., custodians, other departments), review output for reasonableness and investigate significant deviations from expectation.

 

2. Review compliance with contractual provisions, SEC guidelines, Sarbanes Oxley requirements and generally accepted accounting principles with regard to funds expense payments and accruals  (e.g., printing expenses, custodial expenses, director expenses).  Reviews allocation methodologies for appropriateness and relevance in light of new product introductions and distribution channel composition.  Ensures appropriate accruals for expenses.  Updates procedures summarizing process for entire group to reference for proper allocation and accruals to occur. 

 

3. Group task requirements (e.g., participate in specialty group, special projects). Representative for CAG - such as training other associates, business continuity specialist.

 

4. Transfer agent liaison/ cash flow operations. Assist in disseminating capital stock information; resolve problems related to capital stock transactions; disseminate information regarding future cash flows and large trades.  Interfund Borrowing Program - monitor cash positions and determine whether interfund borrowing transaction needs to occur, based on guidelines.  Works with Treasury and Portfolio Managers to determine loan options and communicates resulting  transactions to Fund Accounting.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required

·         High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years related work experience, or college degree

·         Experience with Microsoft Office, especially proficiency with Excel and Access

·         High level of accuracy

·         Prioritize multiple tasks in efficient manner

·         Maintain composure under pressure while meeting strict deadlines

·         Strong analytical and quantitative skills

·         Team oriented

·         Ability to interact with multiple levels of management

·         Proactive in learning/self starter

·         Demonstrate effective oral and written communications

·         Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

 

Preferred

 

·        Accounting/Finance degree

·        2 years of relevant industry experience

·        CPA or MBA

·        Working knowledge of  SEC regulations
