Our domestic strength and extensive global network provides our employees with the best of both worlds - the friendliness of a local organization and the resources of a worldwide network - for diverse experiences and challenging career opportunities.   Manage a small function and/or provides support for the largest and most complex credit policy, risk and/or marketing projects for a functional area or product to include development, implementation, and monitoring of systems to manage the risk of consumer receivable portfolios. Implements and monitors portfolio performance, scoring models and enhancements of credit support systems. Develop and implement new credit origination, monitoring and tracking systems designed to determine the effectiveness of alternate strategies for account origination, credit limit management, customer relationship management, account profitability, attrition and collections. Work with senior management in the development of systems and strategies to be employed in credit risk management. Consult with senior management on credit risk model development, external risk model selections, account monitoring techniques and strategies relating to the credit monitoring process, quantitative financial analysis and/or potential application of risk management technology. Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.   Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Supervise, train and review the work of Credit Risk Analysts within projects managed. Develop economic and portfolio forecasts including thorough analysis of portfolio performance and loss analysis/segmentation. Participate in managing credit data expenses, coordinating credit bureau reporting, systemic translation of credit bureau attributes and credit decision processing. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. Participate in the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans to enhance business growth. Confer with in-house systems specialists and financial analysts to improve computer systems as they relate to credit processes and related databases. This position should act as a first level manager or as the most senior level individual contributor/ subject matter expert. This position should also work with other support teams such as Vendor Management and/or Technology Services. Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.   Basic Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, related field or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Five years proven statistical analysis and/or MIS experience, or equivalent
  • Management experience as well as knowledge and understanding of financial services preferred
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, problem-solving, project management and verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages
  • Strong programming skills to include knowledge of statistical programs i.e. SAS, SAP and/or advanced database programs
  • Strong Project Management discipline is preferred PMP or ITIL certification is an asset. The position will manage multiple concurrent projects, as well as direct the efforts of staff in managing their assigned projects.
  • Familiarity with Credit Bureau data, and exposure to Attribute Definition and Credit Scoring concepts is an asset.
  • The successful candidate will be required to embrace all Procurement and Vendor Risk Management policies and procedures as they relate to the Credit Bureaus.
  • The position requires frequent vendor interaction. The successful candidate will provide a first point of contact for vendors into HSBC, and as such must embody the HSBC brand at all times.
  • Basic SAS / ISPF skills required in order to assist in quality checking data files transmitted between HSBC and external vendors.
  • The position will investigate, analyze and recommend Credit Bureau data content changes - understand and communicate how to capture requested information from Credit Bureau data, and compare Attribute Definitions across Credit Bureaus.
  • The position must keep abreast of new vendor product development, and will take an active role in communicating new or changed products to the business community, investigating to determine fitness for use, and recommending new or changed product usage.
  • Must work closely with Compliance and with Legal Counsel to ensure data usage adheres to all relevant regulations, in particular FCRA, FACT Act and ECOA.
