E*TRADE is made up of some of the brightest and most talented people in the industry - are you ready to join the industry leader?Detailed Description t('5')ThePrincipal Systems Engineer is responsible for contributing operating system(Linux/Solaris/Windows), hardware, automation, and application expertise to thecentralized market data distribution environment. · Provide escalated systems and application support in a highavailability, 7x24x365 environment. · Work with vendors and internal staff to install and integratethird-party and internally developed applications. · Facilitate development team compliance with standard SDLC, codebuild, and roll policies. · Collaborate with systems engineering teams to ensure consistencyand compliance with standards. Meet on a regular basis with engineeringand operations staff to share knowledge and foster cohesion. · Automate day-to-day procedures and provide application training,monitoring tools, and documentation for turnover to operational staff. · Research new technologies and services as they apply to the marketdata infrastructure. Participate inproduct evaluations and provide technical recommendations.· Evaluate capacity planning requirements as they pertain to systemsand applications. · Engineer functional designs for new projects and initiatives andpresent assessments to upper-level management across multiple technicalorganizations. Job Requirements t('5')· 8+ years UNIX experience (Windows, Linux and/or Solarisexperience preferred). · 8+ years programming/scripting experience (Korn,Perl, and/or C preferred). · 5+ years experience with applications such asApache, Tomcat, and other Java-based applications. Experience with Market Dataapplications/vendors (NYSE, Reuters, etc) a plus.· 8+ years experience with system services such as systemmonitoring, routing, nscd, DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, and NTP. · Knowledge of and experience with hardware/applicationload balancing or high-availability clusters. (Netscaler, Veritas Cluster,and/or mod_jk a plus.) · Extensive knowledge of and experience with x86 based server hardware. · Strong knowledge of and experience with networkingconcepts and technologies. · Strong knowledge of and experience with databaseconcepts and technologies. (Oracle, Sybase, or MySQL preferred. DBA experience a plus.)· Experience with projects involving system andapplication scalability and capacity planning. · Experience with hardware and software evaluations. · Experience making high-level presentations.
