Design, implement and support database management systems utilizing corporate data. Provide for database design, architecture, performance, standards, availability, integrity and access. Manage data through the development and maintenance of data models and data element standards and definitions. Lead the research of emerging technologies and directions and identifies opportunities for the use of specific products for the benefit of the company. Provide technical leadership to the application development teams throughout the life cycle of assigned projects. Provide a knowledge source to less experienced members of the Data Base Management group. Maintain expertise in several DBMS, data modeling and logical and physical database design. Direct one or more Database Management staff throughout multiple development projects. Provides estimates on resources for new projects. Assign and tracks individual tasks of other Database Management staff assigned to the project.   Resolve technical issues related to the implementation of the DBMS (software releases, tools, and capacity planning, backup and recovery strategies). Participate in the design of the logical and physical data models and the application code to ensure optimal performance of the system. Provide support for business systems to maintain the availability and integrity of corporate data during and outside of normal working hours. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Senior Consultant Logical Data Modeler. Principal Accountabilities 1. Develop logical data models from functional specifications, data requirements, and business rules provided by clients. These models will be consistent with the Group Template Models, Group Logical Data Modeling standards, and modeling best practices. 2. Maintain and enhance existing logical data models based on change requests or enhancement requests. 3. Collaborate with a metadata analyst on all modeling efforts. The metadata analyst is responsible for data element definition and naming. 4. Develop project plan for modeling efforts based on the standard project plan template. Maintain the project plan and meet targeted completion dates. 5. Report progress to manager on a weekly and monthly basis. 6. Complete other related duties as assigned. 7. Normal day shift – some travel may be required (10%)   Experience required: - A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a major or minor in Computer Science or related field. - Minimum of four years’ experience in designing logical data models . - Proficiency with the ERwin modeling tool. - Experience in developing logical data models consistent with an enterprise data model template.   Basic Qualifications:  
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a major or minor in Computer Science or related field
  • A minimum of eight years related experience including a minimum of three years experience in project management and five to seven years experience administering a DBMS
  • Recognition as a technical resource
  • Specialized experience in programming or data base languages and techniques for application system design
  • Expertise in SQL programming; and applied knowledge of three or four DBMS
