Job Description:

Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business (LOB's) to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner.

 

The DC Engineering Team has responsibility for and ownership of process governing


  • Application of standards for Data Centre and Main Equipment Rooms, as per CIS Global DC architecture governance and standards.

  • Review's of DC & MER layouts with Corporate Real Estate (CRE), and in conjunction with GTI Tower product owner, to implement services & infrastructure standards for the install and decommission of equipment. A primary focus will be working with DCO Data Centre Facilities Management (DCFM) and Site Engineering supporting Prime  or project requests.

  • Review's of DC & MER's for data collection input and review with CIS Capacity and Demand team to maintain adequate capacity levels, and plan for new demand. This includes review of existing facilities and/or the planning of new facility requirements.

  • Apply standards for power, cooling, rack, cabling, raised floor and floor weight loading requirements, resiliency and monitoring requirements to maximize DC & MER efficiency within JPMC regulatory and audit requirements, and DC Engineering standards. It is noted that many of these are in conjunction with CRE, GSI and GTI Tower standards.

  • Participate in tender reviews for external vendor proposals for DC & MER works in conjunction with CRE and GTI Towers.

  • Work with CIS global DC architecture and Tower product leads on the review of new products, and the uptake of new standards as driven by the global teams. The focus is the uptake of global standards to ensure consistency between all three regions NA, EMEA and AP and the adoption of DC 3.X standards consistently. Drive DC3.X to achieve maximum consolidation and densification in existing and new facilities for AP in-conjunction with Global teams.


  

You will be expected to actively participate in global initiatives such as Architecture and Product development, with focus on smaller scale requirements of AP, and Process and Service Improvement as relates to DC architecture and Prime Workflow.

 

You will be the escalation point for DC and MER equipment placement constraints and capacity constraint's. This will also require providing support to Technology Site Manger's for individual AP countries.

 

 

This includes:


  • Review and approval of DC & MER requirements, including input to financial review and impact.

  • Tracking progress against LOB / Customer delivery dates for prime & projects.

  •  Working closely with GTI & LOB PM's and Management teams.

  • Prioritization of requests.

  • Support DCFM and Site engineering for ensuring that the physical installations / decommissions are being coordinated to GTI and customer's needs,  where DC & MER modification's or capacity constraint's to be addressed  are required.

  • Build  & maintain rapport with GTI and LOB towers and foster and maintain relationships with GTI Sourcing, CRE, GSI , suppliers & vendors

  • Audit , Risk and CSA reviews as they apply for DC & MER.

The candidate should come from a technical background  

 

GTI Tower and LOB interaction at all levels is key to this role, so you need to be confident dealing with customers and able to communicate with them in a language they understand. You are expected to be proficient in softer skills like consulting, decision making, coordinating and influencing skills.

 

Project management and team management skills are additional  for this role, as are skills in scheduling and liaising with others. You need to demonstrate these skills  in a matrix environment, where you will interact with people who do not directly report to you.

 

Your team will be dealing with people with different, sometimes competing, needs. Your job is to ensure these needs are balanced and communicated so that the right resources are used to get the work done on time ,using best practices from across the firm.

  

You should be highly skilled in the areas of business continuity, foundation architecture, change management, corporate audit and customer service models. This is especially so in terms of audit, where you are expected to have  knowledge of what is involved for DC and MER standards  and their successful applications to ensure audits are successful.

 

You're expected to input into, modify and construct procedures and guides, and take an active part in progressing the teams efficiency and development.

 

Qualifications/ Experience/Knowledge

 

Knowledge and Experience Required:


  • Minimum of 10 years experience in IT.

  • Minimum of 5 years DC engineering and/or architecture experience in the workplace .

  • Previous Data Centre Operations skills desirable

  • Exposure to the financial services industry desirable

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
