The Risk & Controls Manager role forms part of a larger risk management group that is responsible for ensuring operating risks are fully understood, adequately measured and pro-actively managed. In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for the investigation and analysis of the day-to-day risk and controls, ensuring full compliance by the WSS Client Service staff.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 


  • Active review and assessment of key risk processes and controls.   Close working relationships with dependant parties to ensure all throw/catch activity is clearly defined and controlled.

  • Ongoing identification and reporting of 'hotspot' areas, working closely with ORM and risk and Operations partners to lead process change and CS staff training to mitigate risk.

  • Identification and monitoring of key measurements including volumes, market, product and people activity.

  • Management of CSA (Control Self Assessment) process ensuring controls accurately rated, control commentary reflective of key changes and any related issues and action plans to address control deficiencies effectively managed.

  • Incident management (e.g EF&L) and post mortem reviews.

  • Awareness training and spot check assessments against key 'compliance' areas as defined by Corporate Compliance.

  • Site deep dives to review activities, identify risks and drive efficiency, 

  • Active participation / lead of key control project

  • Support of wider control initiatives and activities to ensure best practices adopted

  • Change management - review of key changes including processes and technology


  • Industry background, product knowledge and infrastructure familiarity

  • Tertiary educated

  • Working knowledge of the transaction lifecycle, and its primary control points.

  • Experience of control and risk management concepts and understanding of operating risk principals

  • Initiative drive and energy to continually improve the risk profile of the group.

  • A committed team player who shares information, supports colleagues and encourages participation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management

  • Good strategic thinking skills to analyse trends in production activity

  • A proactive work ethic
