Position Summary


 

The Business Analyst/Project Manager (BA/PM) has the primary responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify and verify requirements and specifications. This position will provide this service as directed by the project stakeholders directly to the business, technology and end users. The BA/PM serves as the conduit between the business or customer community and the software development team. This position will directly report into the Compliance Application Development team for best practices/standards and project prioritization.

A BA/PM is involved at some level throughout the entire system or software development life cycle. When the requirements baseline is established at the end of the Requirements and Design phases, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements during the Implementation and Testing phases. 

 

Business coverage and Location

 

This position will cover Business Analysis for Cash Equities (including Exchange Traded Options & Futures) for the wider Asia Pacific region, including Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and Singapore. The candidate would be required to understand the 'end to end' flow for these Equities products.

 

The focus area for this individual will be compliance and supervisory reporting.  The person will aid in the integration of Asian OMS systems with TradeVault data repository and help make the data leverage able for a variety of purposes.

 

Job Responsibilities


  • Work closely with project managers, lead developers and business users to formulize a business idea and define requests.

  • Interview business users, subject matter experts and Technology resources to elicit requirements. 

  • Analyze gathered requirements data, verify requirements and create functional specifications.

  • The person should become an expert in the Order / Trade history data model, and its interface methods

  • Work closely with technical resources of other teams and help facilitate the integration with TradeVault

  • Support the integration Test process.

  • Work with Development and QA teams to transition business requirements into their respective parts of the development process.

  • Work with subject matter experts to produce relevant artifacts e.g. process flow charts, architectural diagrams, and design documents.

  • Create user documentation such as user guides, quick reference guides, and release notes.

  • Help create Operational Procedures to insure the proper controls and support is in place post implementation

  • Create technical documentation such as system administrator guides.

  • Follow-up post implementation to make certain that orginal criteria are met, and capture any subsequent requests.

Preferred General Experience Requirements


  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Business Analysis preferably supporting Compliance and supervisory functions of Cash Equities.

  • Technical project management experience

  • Equities market knowledge and a strong familiarity with trading, trading workflows, and trading technology is essential.    

  • Experience as a developer using JAVA or C including inter-process messaging. 

  • Experience with the FIX protocol (Transact tools preferred)

  • Exposure to Business Process Modeling would be an added benefit. 

  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills (writing sample required).


Specific Business Experience Requirements

A candidate would be expected to have working knowledge of one or more of the following areas:


  • Equities compliance/surveillance for the Asia markets

  • Equities reference data - client, instrument & symbology

  • Equities Sales & Trading - 'sell side' broker/dealer perspective


Business Analysis Requirements


  • Delivery orientated and pragmatic approach to the requirements lifecycle to ensure timescales are met and BA best practice is followed

  • Experience with organizing and running workshops to elicit and review requirements from multiple stakeholder groups across regions

  • Use of structured methodologies (e.g. UML, Use Cases) to elicit, analyze and document business and functional requirements

  • Familiarity with performing buddy review of requirements globally with BA team to help ensure requirements are consistent

  • Familiarity with tools to document requirements (e.g. Visio, Blueprint)

  • Experience of running review sessions with stakeholder groups to gain feedback and achieve documentation sign-off

  • Familiarity with reviewing requirement specification documents with development and QA teams

  • Maintaining close links with development and QA teams to ensure requirement transparency and any factors affecting technical design are flagged early

  • Familiarity with reviewing QA test cases to ensure full test coverage of the requirements is achieved

  • Experience with enforcing defining, testing and enforcing data quality policies and measures.
