Position Summary:

 

You will be responsible for assisting the Trade Operations Manager in the processing of Documentary Collections, Letter of Credits, Bank Confirmations, SBLC's and Bank Guarantees.

The role requires knowledge in the mechanics of Letters of Credits and Bank Guarantees.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Responsibility for the day to day processing of  Trade Finance products in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Bank through the Hong Kong Hub processing area.


  • Ensure that the quality and efficiency standards of the Group are in accordance with the highest standards and of best practice.

  • Detect control problems at an early stage and ensure that appropriate measures are taken without delay when quality and efficiency standards are not met.

  • Monitor measures that readily identify excessive operational risk.


Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: 


  • Verification of import and export documents under letters of credit.

  • Verification of import and export collection documents.

  • Checking of export letters of credit to be advised.

  • Verification of payments under all trade related transactions.

  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements to ensure prompt processing of documentation.

  • Ensuring all outstanding files are fated and actioned in a timely manner to ensure prompt payment.

  • Issuance and processing of bank guarantees, liaising with overseas branches and clients.

  • Confirming export letters of credit.

  • Ensure and maintain the correct collecting of fees/charges and interest rates applicable.

  • Maintaining registers on Bank Guarantees issued, Security Paper issuance and diairising for due payments and fee collection.

  • Assist clients in responding to their enquiries.

  • Assist internal Bankers with transactional enquiries

Knowledge and Experience Required:  


  • Excellent communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service both for internal and external customers.

  • Ability to think and act independently.

  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Knowledge of ICC Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits and ICC Uniform Rules for Collections.

  • Commitment to providing high standards of quality and professionalism when dealing with both Internal and External clients.

  • Assume accountability through willingness to take ownership and responsibility to accomplish goals

  • Knowledge of foreign currency payments would be well regarded

  • Minimum 1 years Trade experience required


Behavioural Competencies: 


  • Strong time management skills is a must to ensure priority is given to transactions at certain time of the day which can impact the bank liquidity ensuring all transactions are effected in a timely manner and within industry cut-off times.

  • Technical Skills to undertake the day to day operations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
