Job Description:

HFS Technology has an exciting opportunity for an experienced .Net Application Developer to join our Greenwich based team. The role would be involved in maintenance and development of enterprise scale .Net-based applications including Web applications and services, Windows services and Messaging-based applications.  Exposure to Java is a desirable as some development work will deal with translation of Java web applications to .Net web applications. 

 

Duties:  Responsibilities would cover design, develop, code, test, debug and document programming applications that include Trade Capture, Transaction Processing, Pricing, Reference and Static Data maintenance for our Fund Administration and Accounting platform. The candidate should be able to utilize mature programming methodologies and languages and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques while contributing to technical code documentation. Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendation, incorporate security requirements into design and provide input to information/data flow, and understand and comply with Project Life Cycle methodology in all planning steps. Due to the small size of the team, must be able to communicate directly with users and be familiar with key hedge fund business constructs, various instrument types.

 
Skills required:   Experience in the design and development of complex multi-threaded software systems in a Windows and .Net environment -- this includes expertise in Web Services (ASMX, SOAP, WCF), WPF/Silverlight, T-SQL database scripting (stored procedures, complex queries, triggers), usage of LINQ for data access as well as general expressions against object collections, experience leveraging and implementing extension methods and lambda expressions.  Experience with MSMQ or other queuing technologies is required, with scripting languages a plus (Perl, Shell). Thorough understanding of software engineering processes and best practices (design patterns/principles), experience with database design and Object Relational Mapping (ORM) needed (specific experience with NHibernate a plus), along with real-time and near-real-time data handling and enterprise caching architectures.

It would be desirable to have knowledge and experience of financial products as traded and processed by Hedge Funds, including exchange-traded and OTC derivatives, and/or experience in fund management and administration processing

Experience in AGILE development methodology and process is also desirable.

 

Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any), Computer Science, IT or related technical field.

 

Minimum experience required:  5 years of experience in Applications Development or related experience in a Microsoft .net environment. 3 years of experience in a hedge fund, prime broker or hedge fund administrator.
