PURPOSE OF THE JOB Provide support, guidance and advise within the Sub-Region to ensure that branches comply with the relevant operational, risk, and regulatory compliance processes and procedures. Check that the procedures and controls are embedded in branches within the Sub-Region in a manner that will effectively mitigate the risk RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct conformance and effectiveness checks in the branches within the sub-region
  • Check that the branches comply with the applicable procedures and processes as communicated and that sufficient embedment has occurred
  • Analyse the evidence gathered and provide a report to the Branch Manager and Regional Manager
  • Ensure that the Branch Manager, Specialist Manager and staff have a clear understanding of the content of the report
  • Assist and support the branch to implement existing and new processes and controls to address the non-compliance or risks
  • Conduct follow-up checks on the branches to ensure that sustainable corrective actions have been implemented
  • Monitor and track the Management Assurance Review results of the branches in the sub-region
  • Ensure that reports generated by Head Office, for example the management assurance review common errors
  • Monitor and analyse the status on outstanding and faulty securities, FIC or KYC and Sanctions exception listings, Regulatory Compliance training reports
  • Evaluate the situation by collecting information and evaluate the information against the appropriate process requirements
  • Assist the branch to implement the corrective actions and that risks are minimised
  • Monitor and track the results of the branches in the sub-region and provide the Regional Manager with the performance of the sub-region
  • Attend Risk Meetings with the regional Business Assurance Consultants of the Province, SMS and Operations and Management Assurance
  • Drive a culture of proactive risk and compliance management
  • Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that impact the branches are documented and understood
  • Engage with managers and staff by guiding and advising them to develop Risk and Control
  • Assessments (RCAs) for the function and update at the required intervals
  • Provide ad hoc support in respect of day-to-day risk and compliance matters
  • Ensure congruent, progressive skill enhancement plan exists for the branches
  • Ensure that managers and staff understand the Banks risks, compliance and operational procedures
  • Ensure management assurance actions raised in the branches, are adequately closed prior to due dates

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • National Diploma in IOB or equivalent NQF level 5 qualification or higher
  • Five (5 years working experience within a retail banking environment
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Two (2) years operation and risk experience
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet
  • No criminal record
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Business related B Degree or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or higher
  • Three (3) years experience in a supervisory or managerial role, specifically in operations and risk
  • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status
