Who we are looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Private Client Tax Team in Scotland. The Edinburgh team advises a wide range of clients, from high net worth individuals to large private groups.Our aim is seamless client service, from complex tax planning to compliance, acting as "Trusted Advisors" to our clients. The team is one of the fastest growing areas of PricewaterhouseCooper's (PwC)business and therefore offers room for progression to the right candidate. We have a large and impressive client base and have a highly motivated team of people providing these services. We are looking for a team player, with the potential to progress to managing a varied portfolio of private clients. You must be able to prioritise work loads efficiently to cope with high volumes of work to deadlines and meet the changing needs of clients. A good level of commercial awareness and financial management is required. Business development skills are also a priority along with an astute commercial acumen.

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of a challenging and varied client portfolio.
  • The emphasis and majority of the work is tax planning projects and ad-hoc advisory work - predominantly income and capital taxes issues and frequently work with international aspects including domicile and offshore trust related work and transaction work (shareholder tax issues).
  • In some instances taking a lead role in managing the client relationship - managing and controlling deliverables and deadlines. This will include managing the tax return compliance, which is outsourced to a specialist team across the UK.
  • Front line involvement in new business generation including problem solving for business/client specific ideas and solutions; involvement in networking events, proposal meetings and marketing seminars; and managing introductions to other parts of the firm e.g. Legal.
  • Working alongside other lines of services to reach fully considered solutions to client issues.
  • We work as one Private Client Team across our Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen offices so whilst you will predominately be based in Edinburgh some travel to other cities will be required.

Requirements

The following skills are required for this role:

Essential skills:

  • ATT qualified and studying towards or intending to study towards CTA qualification.
  • You will have solid personal tax experience or potentially come from a mixed tax background.
  • Tax knowledge is essential along with some tax advisory experience.
  • Excellent client handling skills and team working skills.
  • A desire to assist in business development and help grow the practice in the local marketplace.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of personal/corporate clients.
  • You must have some project management experience for this role.
