PwC’s PRTM Management Consulting provides clients with a complete portfolio drawn from PRTM’s heritage in business operations strategy including product innovation development, supply chain and customer innovation as well as PwC’s strengths in finance, technology, people and change management, risk management and compliance, and deals. PwC's PRTM serves clients across a range of sectors; Health Pharma, Energy, Utilities Mining, Retail Consumer, Industrial Products, Telecom/Technology Entertainment Media, Capital Markets, Government, Banking, Insurance Asset Management.

Responsibilities

Due to the high demand for our services we are looking for Consultants to join our Product Innovation Development team which focuses on providing innovation, portfolio management, product service development, and product management consulting services. Globally we are a team of 300 Product Innovation Development Consultants, bringing engineering, science and business perspective enabling us to interact directly and credibly with all levels of business, innovation and RD staff. The role encompasses delivering client value by managing and executing client engagements, supporting new business development, developing thought leadership and training less experienced consultants. You will be playing a key role as part of a highly skilled, specialist team within a wider group of operations professionals. At the same time, you will be encouraged to initiate and develop new ideas. Our motivated team have an excellent track record of delivering high quality work to major national and international clients and has ambitious growth plans for the next few years. You will be based at our London offices but, as part of an international team, you will be expected to travel on a regular basis to our clients’ locations across the UK and abroad. We categorise our skills through four key platforms, which to some degree we would expect all our people to have a working knowledge of, and work towards specialism in one or more areas. We would anticipate Consultants would have good experience in one or more of these areas already:

  • Innovation Strategy Management – helping companies define where and how they will innovate, and building the environment and culture to enable this
  • Portfolio, Roadmapping Product Management – helping companies define the right portfolio, roadmaps and products/services, and implementing the right processes, governance tools to enable this
  • Product Service Development – helping companies improve their development speed, productivity and quality
  • Product Lifecycle Management – helping companies define, select and implement PLM and other development systems to support the above
Reporting to Senior Consultants, Directors or Partners, the Consultant will lead a team of Senior Associates and Associates in delivering smaller client projects or workstreams on larger programmes of work. You will also play an important internal role in driving our consulting development programmes forward, imparting your skills and ways of thinking to others. The Individual

Essential skills or qualifications needed for this role: An undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) in an Engineering or Science subject, plus industry experience Or An undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) plus industry experience in product development or product management Experience in innovation. product development or product management incorporating some or all of the following skills: Product strategy Product planning Portfolio management Product development Technology management Engineering management Innovation Proven consulting skills in the following areas: Excellent oral and written communication skill Demonstrable leadership capability Ability to build and sustain client relationships Flexible and creative in approach Strong analytical skills The ability to solve complex problems Self-motivated and driven to achieve results An understanding of the consulting profession Desirable skills or qualifications sought for this role: An MBA or other post-graduate qualification in business, economics or management. Prior experience in consulting in a competence area that PwC’s PRTM Management Consulting serves.
